Abi & Paul

May of 2023 was time for Abi & Paul to tie the knot!. The couple had booked me for a HALF DAY’S PHOTOGRAPHY a couple of months before and I had the pleasure of capturing their special day at Tretower Court. The location was beautiful, set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, with castle ruins a 1400’s medieval court and stunning gardens. The couple chose to keep things intimate by inviting only their closest friends and family. Which was so nice as it felt very personal and made for a lovely day.

Abi arrived in the wedding car at the entrance to Tretower Court, where she was accompanied arm in arm by her Dad. Paul waiting nervously with a huge grin on his face as he saw Abi made her way through the gardens towards him. The ceremony was lovely, only around 25 people but that made it perfect for Abi & Paul. You could see that all they wanted was to marry infant of the people closest to them. And they did just that!. The drinks reception was held on the lawns of the court, and it was a lovely opportunity for the couple to relax and celebrate with their guests. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves while sipping down some champagne. The weather was stunning and it allowed for everyone to mingle and have some laughs with the bride and groom.

While the guests were having their champagne I took Abi & Paul for a walk around Tretower Court to shoot come couples photos. They didn’t want ‘set up, posted shots’ and I was glad because it’s not something I enjoy doing. For me the best images come from just going for a stroll and letting the couple just enjoy each others company and have a laugh and a joke together. Every now and again we’d just stop and I asked them to pretend I wasn’t there and just “be in the moment with each other”. As you can see from the images there was no need to stage everything because just by doing this we managed to get some stunning images. I love taking this approach because it just allows the couple to be natural and be themselves.

It was my pleasure to capture these memories for the Abi & Paul and I hope I’ve captured the feeling from their day so that they can look back on these photos in years to come and smile and remember the joy and emotion that they both felt. I’d like to wish Abi & Paul my best wishes for their future together, It was a pleasure to meet you both and photograph your wedding.
