Georgie & Dave

Oldwalls, Gower Wedding

September 2022 I finally had the privilege of capturing Georgie & Dave’s wedding at Oldwalls, Gower after numerous cancellations and set backs thanks to the wonderful 2020 chaos! I can safely say that it was worth the wait!. This stunning rural wedding venue was the perfect backdrop for a day filled with laughter, tears, and endless love and suited the couple perfectly.

The day started with the couple getting ready in cottages close by, owned by Oldwalls. The anticipation and excitement in the air was palpable as they each prepared for the biggest day of their lives. My partner (and wedding coordinator/planner) Laura Beth was with me on this day as my second photographer and as we arrived at Bridal Prep we felt so welcomed into the family and could sense the excitement!

The whole day was held on site at Oldwall, with the ceremony in the beautiful high ceilinged Oakroom. The room was lit beautifully with fairy lights and the flower arch at the end of the isle completed the room. After all the guests had been seated, Dave waited nervously inside, checking his watch numerous times. Georgie arrived  in her wedding car with her Dad, You could see the excitement and joy on her face as she got out of the car and made her way up the red carpet to the entrance way. This is where she would wait to make her entrance to the Oakroom where Dave and all the guests were gathered. It was time…., First came the page boy and Flower girl, the former with a sign around his neck which read ‘uncle Dave, here comes your bride’. This brought tears, smiles and laughter to all of the room. Next came the bridesmaids, all of whom had huge smiles on their faces, knowing they were apart of something special. Finally it was time for Georgie, nervous, excited and everything in between she gracefully walked down the aisle, gripping her fathers arm so tight. Daves face lit up when he spotted her and all that nervous watch checking went away instantly! The ceremony was lovely with vows and ring exchanges, the whole time the smiles did not disappear off the faces of Georgie & Dave. After they were pronounce man & wife they then exited the Oakroom cheers and applause from all their loved ones.

The reception was held in the connected marquee and drinks between the terrace overlooking the lilypad lake and in the bar which was very cosy and had some beautiful decor. Drinks were flowing and everybody was having such a good time at this point. Plenty of laughing and conversation. Such a great vibe all around. With the wind blowing fiercely outside, the couple braved the weather and decided to take their couple photos a short drive away at the breathtaking Rhosilli Beach. Oldwalls offer a chauffeur on the wedding day which isn’t seen at many venues and so useful for getting around. The wind may have added an extra challenge, but it also added a unique and beautiful touch to the photos I am sure you would agree. We lost a few umbrellas making it to that location but the added drama blowing Georgie’s dress made it so worth it! As the evening approached, the atmosphere at Oldwalls transformed into a lively and celebratory atmosphere. The live band provided the perfect soundtrack for the night, getting everyone on the dance floor. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the first dance of the happy couple, which took place under the outdoor pavilion overlooking the lake, amidst a beautiful display of fireworks and lights.

On a personal note, It was an honour to capture these memories for the Georgie & Dave and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their special day. Georgie and Dave were great and encouraged me to join in and be apart of the day, they made my job so easy and were so laid back. Thankyou both and I hope you have many happy years together!
